The EGBA (European Gaming & Betting Association) is an association of leading European gaming and betting operators with members as Bet-at-home.com, BetClick, bwinparty, DigiBeta, Expekt, Interwetten, and Unibet.
EGBA is an association based in Brussels nonprofit. That promotes the right of private gaming operators licensed and regulated in a Member State of a fair market access throughout the European Union.
Basically the aim of EGBA is to prevent monopolies in the European Union do with regard to licenses and markets in gaming! EGBA stresses that Member States have failed to demonstrate the adequacy of their monopolies to ensure a particularly high level of consumer protection which is a requirement to justify a measure as restrictive as a monopoly.
This is consistent with the conclusions of a recent workshop of experts convened by the European Commission, declaring that "the regulatory system in force in a Member State, whether a licensing system or a monopoly, does not seem to have a significant impact on the degree of problem gambling or addiction.
